More Cloth Diapers

A lot of my recent sewing time has been dedicated to making more cloth diapers. I made few for a church sewing bee a year and a half ago, but this time had the extra challenge of doing all of the cutting and sewing myself! The most fun part was choosing a unisex pattern because the happy Mama didn't want to know the baby's gender ahead of time. Don't the owls look cute on him?!?

Jewelry by Lyndsey

I met Lyndsey at a craft show a few years ago. I was selling clutches and scarves and she was selling the most stunning, well priced jewelry I had seen all season. I quickly let my mom know which pieces were on my wish list and was delighted when I unwrapped the silver necklace and earring set below.

You may recognize this necklace from my Easter post last week. When I saw it on Lyndsey's facebook page I knew I HAD TO HAVE IT. It is my new favorite because it literally goes with everything. I can't seem to make myself wear it less than three times a week!

While I was on her facebook page I also spotted an affordable Origami Owl look-a-like and ordered one with my birthstones inside. Just like Origami Owl, I can open this pendant and change out the stones inside. Neat huh?!?

Thrifty Easter

I found this spiffy little spring number while thrift shopping on vacation in Florida. Best part? It still had the tags on it! I paid $7.49 plus tax. The original price was $12.99 plus tax.

Pit Problem

I have a problem, and it is the pits! Yellow armpit stains to be exact.

When I took this picture I could only wear this shirt if I was layering it under something. Fortunately, Pinterest has tons of tips on how to remove these kinds of stains. Unfortunately, Pinterest has TONS of tips on how to remove these kinds of stains. Because this is a problem I consistently have I decided to give a few of them a try.

This shirt is 100% cotton and was socked in 1 Tbsp. of Oxi Clean for a few hours.

This shirt is 100% cotton and was soaked in 1 Tbsp. of dish soap and 2 Tbsp. of peroxide for a few hours. This Pinterest tip suggested that baking soda also be used for extra tough stains, so I tried this shirt without using baking soda and the one below with baking soda.

This shirt is 70% cotton, 26% polyster, and 4% spandex and was soaked in 1 Tbsp. of dish soap and 2 Tbsp. of peroxide for a few hours. While the pits of the shirt were still moist I rubbed in about 1 tsp. of baking soda.

This shirt is 47% cotton, 47% modal, and 6% spandex and was soaked is warm water with two aspirin for a few hours.

After these shirts were treated I laundered and dried them each according to their care instructions. These were the results.

I like how the shirt that was treated with Oxi Clean turned out the best. Plus, this was the easiest treatment!

The shirt that was treated with dish soap and peroxide only turned out okay, but the one below that also used baking soda was much better. However, this is an added step and time.

The shirt using only the aspirin and water for treatment turned out the worst. Even though the water started out boiling, I wasn't able to get aspirin to completely dissolve. If I were to try this method for stain removing in the future I would start by crushing the aspirin.

All in all, I was the most happy with the Oxi Clean and, bonus, it wasn't super involved! What do you do to remove pit stains?

A dear friend recently gave me a set of EmmasNaturals for a gift and I LOVED them! The emollient bar, lotion stick, and lip moisturizer fit perfectly into my busy schedule and desire to live more naturally. My skin feels so nourished and my lips so moist after using these products, not to mention the yummy fragrances! (I have Caribbean Escape skin products and Creamy Coconut lip moisturizer.) Natural Nails

As you all know, I have been trying out a more natural beauty regiment recently. Changing how I was eating, cleaning, and beautifying was generally easy since there are many products on the market to fill those voids. However, finding a "natural" nail polish was really putting a crimp in my side!

I was ecstatic when Krista introduced me to SpaRitual, a vegan beauty line, while Christmas shopping but just recently purchased a bottle for myself (which I found at TJ Maxx and Ulta.) It was very sheer and I had to apply 3 coats for full coverage, but did not use a base or top coat. It had a slight matte finish. I have been really impressed with how well it wears and would highly recommend you try it our as well!

Still no chips or wear after 3 full days of wear!
